OUR EARLY DAYS
Miami Kava has a rich and fascinating backstory, beginning with its origins as the first kava bar to open in the city of Miami. We started out in a small house in Wynwood, Miami long before the neighborhood underwent the gentrification that it is now known for.
EVOLVING WITH MIAMI
Back in 2015 kava bars were a new concept in Miami, and most people were unfamiliar with the root and its benefits. Nevertheless, we were committed to introducing this traditional beverage to the community and creating a welcoming space for people to come together, relax, and have a good time.
Over the years, our reputation grew, and our small kava bar became a beloved fixture in Miami. We welcomed locals and visitors alike, creating a sense of community and belonging that was truly special.
ADAPTING, NEVER CHANGING WHO WE ARE
As the years passed, Wynwood, Miami began to change around us. Gentrification swept through the neighborhood, bringing a wave of new development and a changing landscape. Despite these changes, Miami Kava remained steadfast in our commitment to providing a warm and welcoming space for all. Today, we celebrate 10 years of staying true to that mission and continuing to serve the community that grew with us.

It’s open mic night at Roots Miami Kava, the former Wynwood location of what is now Miami Kava. During that time, the bar hosted weekly open mics and community gatherings that brought together artists, musicians, and locals from across the city.

The comedy “Federico and the Puppets of Cachiporra” was performed every Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Roots Miami Kava, the former Wynwood location of what is now Miami Kava. The play was directed by Yesler de la Cruz.
